Palermo, Sicily
Today we watched the Disney Magic pull into the docks in Palermo as the sun was rising. We had breakfast out on our balcony watching the Sicilian coast. It was awesome. We met up with the rest of the gang at 8:00 and we were off the boat by about 8:30 a.m. We survived our first port on our own. Although were have decided to change the name of our trip to Isbel’s Budget Tour through Europe!! The cost for our “tour” was 8.50 Euro per adult. The kids until 18 only cost 2.50 Euros. Much cheaper than the Disney tour!!
We walked out of the port passed all the taxi drivers and got a map at the Tourist Info stall. They marked all the places we wanted to see and told us where to buy the bus tickets (AMAT). We then took a bus to the Catacombs in Palermo. It was very creepy. Lomby thinks that it would make a great place for a Halloween party. We then walked all the way back to the ship stopping at some other sights such as the Palace of Normanni, Four Corners and the Palermo Cathederal. On the way we stopped at some cafĂ©’s for a cappuccino which in Johnny’s words was BRUTAL. We also had beer, sandwiches and our first taste of authentic Italian gelato. It was yumm-o!!
We did a lot of walking…..some might back out of the Munoz Tours!!
