"Bagon #4"
Today we did some last minute shopping. Aya & I bought ourselves a TOUS purse. This seems to be a very popular brand in Spain. A little bear is their trademark. Everyone has their purses, sunglasses & jewelry. Erika bought herself a very cute necklace and ring before she left Barcelona. As I write this blog we are traveling in a train from Barcelona to Madrid. It is supposed to be a 4 hour trip. It was a sight to see us traveling through the train terminal with 11+ luggages. There is also a drunk man on the train that can’t find his seat or his luggage. He keeps coming by our seats and asking if this is “bagon #4”, everyone is already getting annoyed. He is grabbing other people’s luggage and everyone on aboard is upset, it’s actually very funny. This will probably be the last entry on this blog. Tomorrow we take a plane from Madrid to Miami and should arrive by 3:30 pm Miami time. We are all homesick, although it has been a great trip we are all dying to get home.

Barcelona "On our Own"
Today felt very lonely, after traveling with 19 people, 6 feels very lonely. We took the double decker bus around the city. It’s a very nice city, but I guess since it’s the end of our trip we are very tired and did not get off at any stop. Instead of going to the Magic Fountain in Montjuic, we took pictures in front of a fountain in our hotel. Henry says the fountains in Vegas are nicer!! Tonight we skipped dinner and went to bed….we had to start our diet somehow.

Goodbye Magic...til we meet again!!
Barcelona, Spain
Note: Today has been a very somber day for me. As I was shopping in Barcelona I received a phone call from a coworker that my principal had passed away. This was very unexpected; I almost fell to the floor. I will always remember him, may he rest in peace.
Today we had our last breakfast on board at 8:15 am. We were off the ship by about 9:15am; I think we were the last ones off the ship. After we checked in to our hotel, Hilton Diagonal Mar, which is very nice, we all went out shopping. Today Lomby was in charge of the tour, so he took us shopping. We walked around Las Ramblas then went to the Corte Ingles (big department store like Macy’s) in Plaza Cataluña (sp) then to the Diagonal Mar mall right in front of our hotel. The Travieso’s left tonight to Paris and the Perez’ & Abreu’s will be leaving tomorrow to Miami. We still have a full day in Barcelona tomorrow.

Last Day at Sea
Today Henry and I had our couples massage scheduled at 9:15 am. It was awesome!! We followed up with some packing!!! How boring, but all the luggage has to be out by 10 pm. Some how everything doesn’t fit as nicely as it did before. After packing we went to see Ratatouille, it was very cute. Erika and Kiko also had their massage today. At dinner we said goodbye to all our new friends. There seemed to be a lot of folks from California on this trip.

Mmmmm french crepes, my favorite!!
Marseille, France
Today was a relaxing day. We slept in late then everyone got off the boat at their own pace. There isn’t much to do in this city and we were too tired to go on any excursions. We took the free shuttle bus into town. It drops you off right at the old port. We walked around the old port and ate crepes. The boys stayed on the ship, so it felt like Henry & I were on a date in France. Lomby and Ed and family took the little train to see the church up on the hill (Notre Dame), they said it was beautiful. I’ve seen enough churches for one trip!! After we got back on the ship and Enrique found out we ate crepes, he wanted to get off too. So, Henry took his baby to eat crepes….I stayed on board and relaxed by the pool. Later we took Manny to the Health center for a rash he had developed. Turned out the he has the shingles. He is uncomfortable, but doing fine. Tonight the Perez & Abreu families ate at Palo’s, the adult only restaurant. The rest of us took care of the girls. We saw the live Disney production called ”Disney Dreams” tonight. Tomorrow is our last night on the ship. It has been great!!

Louis Vuitton Day!!
>>>>>Happy Birthday Rita!!>>>>>>>>
Villefranche, France
Today was the day that being on Isbel’s Budget Tour through Europe paid off, for me at least!! You see Henry told me that whatever money we saved on tours I could use to buy a purse in France! Today was that day. First we went took a city bus to Eze, a beautiful medieval town on top of a hill. The walk up the hill was lined with adorable shops and very cute restaurants…but since we are on the budget tour it did not include a stop at the shops!! From there we took another city bus to Monaco to visit the famous city of Monte Carlo. Wow, what a rich city. My boys were content to just sit on the sidewalk and watch the nice & expensive cars go by. Henry did not want to pay 10 Euros to go inside the casino, he says there are nicer ones in Vegas!! We then walk down the street with all the fancy shops. This is where I bought my purse!!!! This is also the day that the trip paid off for Albe too!! You see, he wanted to go on a cruise through the Mediterranean because of the beach bathing customs here. We took a stroll through the French Riviera and Albe took lots of pictures….of “pepperoni’s”!!! Henry, Beco & Johnny stayed with Albe while he took those pictures, probably to make sure nothing happened to Albe….yea right!! We then took a train back to the boat to eat some more!!

La Spezia, Italy
Today Henry and I split up from the rest of the group. We were all supposed to go to Pisa, but we missed the early train and decided it was too far (1 hr/25 min) to risk it on a later train. So they stayed shopping and drinking (I heard Johnny and Beco drank all the beer at this one place) in the cute town of La Spezia. The Munoz crew headed out on the train to Cinque Terre which was absolutely beautiful. It is five costal towns that are linked together by a hiking trail. We only hiked the easiest and most popular trail between the first two towns called “La Via del Amore”. We then went to the last town and ate lunch by the beach. When we got back the rest of the crew was still shopping. I bought some clothes, a pair of Italian sandals and two purses!! Tomorrow we are in France.

Rome in a Day
Rome, Italy
Today was an exhausting day. Rome surly wasn’t built in a day, but we visited it all in a day. We took the 8:05 train from Civitavecchia into Rome. In Rome we had a tour guide, Nicky, from Through Eternity waiting for us. She was great. She was a native English speaker and very hyper. We would have never visited all the sights that we did without her. We visited the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Vatican, Sistine Chapel and the Basilica. We did it all mostly on foot and buses. Nicki also showed us how to cross the street in Rome. The cars will never stop for you at the crosswalks so you have to cross like Julius Caesar…who owned all the streets in Rome. So basically cross like you own the street. Aya was a trooper and did not complain a single time. Caru and Lomby opted out since they had already been to Rome a couple of times. It was crazy and miserably hot, but we did it all.
Sorry we haven't been able to post more pics, but the internet it very slow and expensive onboard the ship!!

Olbia, Sardinia
Today the budget tour messed up. We ended up paying 35 Euros for a taxi (8 people) from town to Pitulongo Beach (7 km away). The Perez’ and Abreu’s girls found a bus that took them to the same beach for .80 euros each way. This is the beach that the locals go to but it was good enough to get a feel for it. The water was freezing, but we all went in. As for the highlight of Albe’s trip…..there was only two topless girls on the whole beach. BUMMER!! Of course, we bought some Sardinian wine which I have heard has some ingredient that contributes to a longer life. I think we are going to need more than two bottles!! The Travieso’s stayed on board today for a relaxing day.

Naples, Italy
I am going to do some back tracking on my writing. I haven’t had much time to write in the last few days.
Naples is an interesting city. Today the group split up. The older Perez’, Aya and the Abreu’s went to Capri and Sorrento on a ferry. The younger Perez’, Travieso’s and us did Pompeii and Sorrento on a train. We first walked about 25 minutes to the train station. Naples is a crazy place. On the way to the train station and Italian saw Henry with his hugh camera and told him…”ah, let me take family picture”…Henry says he was wearing Nike track sneakers!! (He did not give him the camera. As for Pompeii…I don’t have to do it again, but it is HISTORY!! It was hot and miserable. From Pompeii we took the train to Sorrento. Sorrento was very beautiful. We ate some yummy pizza at a place called Pizzeria Aurora. After lunch we ate very expensive gelato then we shopped for a little while. I bought a pair of Italian pants. Henry says they were probably made in Hialeah! We took the train all the way back to the port. On this train we met a lady from Cuba. We figured out she was Cuban when an Italian kid bumped into her and she screamed “Pin—“!! Today we saw an Italian argument, a purse snatching, and some crazy driving. I think we are lucky that we got back on the ship without anything happening to us. But then again we are on a Budget Tour!!

Isbel's Budget Tours Through Europe
Palermo, Sicily
Today we watched the Disney Magic pull into the docks in Palermo as the sun was rising. We had breakfast out on our balcony watching the Sicilian coast. It was awesome. We met up with the rest of the gang at 8:00 and we were off the boat by about 8:30 a.m. We survived our first port on our own. Although were have decided to change the name of our trip to Isbel’s Budget Tour through Europe!! The cost for our “tour” was 8.50 Euro per adult. The kids until 18 only cost 2.50 Euros. Much cheaper than the Disney tour!!
We walked out of the port passed all the taxi drivers and got a map at the Tourist Info stall. They marked all the places we wanted to see and told us where to buy the bus tickets (AMAT). We then took a bus to the Catacombs in Palermo. It was very creepy. Lomby thinks that it would make a great place for a Halloween party. We then walked all the way back to the ship stopping at some other sights such as the Palace of Normanni, Four Corners and the Palermo Cathederal. On the way we stopped at some café’s for a cappuccino which in Johnny’s words was BRUTAL. We also had beer, sandwiches and our first taste of authentic Italian gelato. It was yumm-o!!
We did a lot of walking…..some might back out of the Munoz Tours!!

Day at Sea
Today we got to sleep in late. We woke up about 10:30 than had our character breakfast at 11:20 am. The characters no longer come to your table. It’s called Mickey’s Island Jam and the kids get to go up and dance with the characters. Ed, Albe & Enriquito got picked to go up and dance like Elvis!! With sideburns and all!!
During the day we went to a wine tasting of Italian wines. We tasted 3 whites & 3 reds. None of them were better than Ribera del Duero or Napa. Guess we won’t be buying any Italian wines. The names of the grapes were unknown to us…we’ve never heard of them. When we get home we will share our notes with the Rodriguez’ & Morales’!!!
Oh, by the way….TUTI…we found an Italian for you…just like you asked Tammy to do. His name is Andrea and we will post a pic of him as soon as we can!! He has a great personality and was the one doing the WINE tasting!!!
During our wine tasting Tiana and Tessa went to camp. They both seemed to enjoy it…at least they stayed without crying!! As for the Munoz boys…we haven’t seen much of them around. Manny spent all day in the pool and at camp…as for Albe & Enrique …there are around 200 teenagers on board!!
Tonight we had formal night with dinner at Lumiere’s. The food has been very good…especially the deserts. We also celebrated Alberto’s Quinces at Dinner. Before dinner we went to see the first musical production…Golden Mickey’s…it is a mock awards presentation with music from different Disney movies. At night, Kiko, Erika, Lisa, Ed & us went to Rockin’ Bar D for some dancing and music through the decades. It was fun to see the cast dressed up from the different decades.
Tomorrow we begin our ports with Palermo, Sicily. We have a 6:30 breakfast/wake up call and plan to meet at 8:00 am. We have 7 straight days at ports so our journey begins!!! I’m sure we will need a vacation from our vacation when we get back home.

Happy Birthday Enriquito & Congrats to the Newly Engaged!!
Happy 17th Birthday Enriquito!!!
NEWS ALERT!!!.....Kiko and Erika are engaged!! He proposed to her today on the Disney ship!! He had the room decorated with roses and rose petals!! Very cute!! She thought it was the wrong room!! Congrats to both of them!!
Today we did a little shopping in Zaragoza before heading out to Barcelona. The Perez/Abreu Families & Aya went to the Corte Ingles. Henry and I headed out to find mantilla’s. We wanted to get one in Spain for our kids to use when they get married. They are very expensive and hard to find. But we found a small hole in the wall that had beautiful ones. We bought one for us and Vivian back home also wanted us to get her one. We made it all the way to Barcelona without stopping once. The babies were all troopers!! We were sooo excited to get on the ship that we didn’t want to waste any more time. When were saw the Disney Magic we all started screaming!!. We boarded the ship just in time for the safety drill!! Henry and Beco had a rematch from last cruise at the ping pong table. Henry beat him 2-1. Then Johnny join in and beat Beco & Henry!! I’m sure there will be another rematch before the cruise is over. We had dinner at Parrot Cay. I had found out through the Disboards that our waiter from our last Disney cruise (Toto) was on the Mediterranean Cruise. (Abreu family: remember him?!!) Tracy went to request him as our waiter and we got him. He is really nice and great with the kids. Our asst server’s name is Putu!! Toto & Putu!! What a team!! Tomorrow is a relaxing day at sea.

Drive through Rioja to Zaragoza
As I type this blog (on WORD) we are headed out of Ribadesella to Zaragoza, Spain. It is about 5-6 hours away. For breakfast we had…you guessed it…churros con chocolate..at a churreria. I wonder how many pounds I’ve gained so far?!!! Will write later.
I’m back. On the way to Zaragoza we drove through the Rioja and Navarra wine region. We stopped at the Marques de Riscal bodega. It was very pretty and we bought some wine only because they do not sell this specific label in Miami. I don’t really like wines from this region. They were not very smart business people because they do not let you taste the wine!! When we arrived at Zaragoza when walked and walked and walked to have dinner. We can’t wait to get on the ship because we are tired of not understanding what to order from the menu!!! Disney cruise tomorrow!!!
Morales family: just to let you know that we have installed a camera system throughout the house!!! And the pool water has been electrafied, so be careful. ENjoy!!!

Ribadesella, Asturias - Aya's Family
Today we slept in then had breakfast at the Inn with a beautiful view of the Sella river. Then the Munoz family went on a horseback riding excursion through the mountains near Ribadesella. The Perez/Abreu family went shopping and strolling through the town. We then met up with each other for lunch at a restaurant called Texu. It was located on a hill in a farm. We ate typical Asturian food such as corn with blood - pantrucos
mmmmm good?! Obviously not all of us tried it. The other stuff was very yummy- croquetas, corn pancakes, morsilla, bistec empanizado & of course beer (canita)!! Then it was time for Aya to visit the foot doctor (because of her fall in the bushes while peeing!!) He worked on her foot and she is much better. In Aya’s words…el doctor me dio massage y massage y fue un animal y me apreto el pies y me metio el hueso en su lugar!! A night we went into town and had churros con chocolate for dinner!! There is some funny story about Johnny, Beco and a cow. You’ll have to ask them about it when they get home. We don’t know the story yet. Will post pics as soon as we can!!

which one is Beco and Johnny

And which ones are the horses A--!!

Aya Falls while Peeing Behind a Bush!!!
Today was an interesting day. We drove from Ribera del Duero to Ribadesella. On the way we made a wrong turn and ended up in the middle of pastures and cows....then everyone needed to use the bathroom...needless to say we all used the bushes (#1 & #2). Aya ended up falling in a ravine as she was peeing behind a bush and hurt her foot. She actually has a swollen foot and a bad limp and is going to the doctor tomorrow here in Ribadesella. When we arrived in Ribadesella we meet Aya's family that lives in a neighborhood called "La Huertona". Now getting to our hotel was interesting too...it is up on the top of a mountain and overlooking the river Sella...very beautiful scenery. For dinner we ate at a restaurant owned by Aya's family..named "La Huertona"....very nice and very expensive. Dinner was about 3 hours long!!! EVeryone here eats very late.
Oh, by the way, we loved to hear your comments...so keep them coming too!!

Ribera del Duero-No one left standing!!!

Today the Perez family arrived. We picked up our rental car then met up with the Perez family at the Sitio de Ventocillo bodega (vineyard)in Aranda del Duero. THey produce a wine under the label PradoRey. We had a private tour... arranged by Lomby through Henry's cousin Lazi...it was awesome...much better than in the states. Albe and Enrique were able to taste all the wines...they like that there is no age limit. We drank soooooo much wine that we were glad we could stay the night at a castle owned by the bodega. THe castle was once owned by the royal family...cool...but the boys were kind of spooked!! We bought wine to bring back but can not promise that it will make it back since we still have 10 days on a boat. Will try to save some to share with our family & friends back home!!! Tomorrow we are off to Ribadesilla where Aya's family (Henry's mom)is from. Have not posted more pics because the uploading is a royal pain...the internet is not cooperating!!!
